Have you ever felt something shifting deep inside you, so quietly and yet so powerfully, that words alone couldn’t explain it?
This summer, I had the privilege of attending a Brainspotting Intensive with Kelly Larson @pacifictrauma_center in Northern California. It was truly transformative to be held in such a sacred, grounding space surrounded by nature and a beautiful community of healers and seekers.
Between the sessions, I found myself returning to one of my oldest companions: my journal. With the soft rush of the creek, the songs of the birds, and my feet submerged in warm water, I began to write from a different part of myself. Not from my mind, trying to make sense of things, but from the quiet, wordless places that Brainspotting helps us access. Each sentence became a bridge between my conscious awareness and the deeper truths waiting to be seen.
During the intensive, each attendee experienced a two-hour Brainspotting session witnessed by the group. What unfolded was nothing short of awe-inspiring. We watched as people accessed and released deeply held fears, everything from lifelong phobias of swimming pools and dental visits to grief and depression rooted in old trauma. Through presence, precision, and the co-regulating power of the group, those fears softened. Some even dissolved completely. In their place, we saw space open for expansive possibility and freedom.
Brainspotting allows us to drop into the subconscious mind, where the body’s wisdom lives. It is not about fixing or forcing; it is about finding the point where the nervous system says, “Yes, here. This is where the healing lives.”
For me, combining Brainspotting with journaling has become a sacred ritual, an integration practice that allows insights to anchor into language and embodiment. The page becomes a mirror of the internal landscape, a way to witness myself with compassion and curiosity.
I have experienced firsthand the incredible power of this work to regulate, to release, and to return us home to ourselves. It is a gift and an honor to share this healing journey with others. 🌿✨
